This portrait of groundbreaking director, actor, and artist Andre Gregory by Cindy Kleine (who is also his wife) is a delightful, ruminative appreciation of one man's life and work. A brilliant and often hilariously funny raconteur, Gregory discusses the making of "My Dinner with Andre" (1981), written by and starring Gregory and Wallace Shawn and directed by Louis Malle. He speaks warmly of his lifelong friendship with Shawn (also collaborators on the movie "Vanya on 42nd Street" and a recent production of Ibsen's The Master Builder), and his problematic relationship with his European parents, described as "Jews who forgot to tell their children they were Jews" and, "like the insane rulers of a little Balkan country." Gregory throws in a dash of film noir as he investigates the possibility that his enigmatic father might have been an economic agent for the Nazis. You get all the stuff you'd expect from Stephenie Meyer - like some very hot dudes and a very unique romance... this time it's a love "box" rather than a love triangle. It's hard to explain but it's genius. I can guarantee you won't have seen anything like it!! Alien invasion + hot people trapped in caves = the most inventive kissing scenes ever. As well as all the Twilighty stuff, you also get amazing performances - Saoirse Ronan is the ultimate kick-ass chick. She's got her pick of the men (Max Irons and Jake Abel, who are absolutely going to be stars after this) but there's so much more to her than that. She's an independent, powerful warrior woman. Jennifer Lawrence, watch out!! And why is no one talking about the kid who plays Saoirse's little brother yet?! He is adorable and so good. There is a scene where I teared up watching him. William Hurt was surprisingly hilarious as Uncle Jeb and Diane Kruger is deliciously evil as the Seeker. The movie also has a pretty thrilling sci fi plot, breathtaking scenery, crazy vintage cool costume design, and some seriously good-looking chrome cars. This is a quality movie. I guess that has something to do with Andrew Niccol being the director - from The Truman Show to Gattaca to In Time, he seem to make very stylish, smart movies.

When thinking about English Police dramas, The Bill usually comes to mind, episodes where two overweight police officers would run around estates trying to find out who robbed the local Sainsbury's. Thankfully, Welcome To The Punch, is a lot more sophisticated and glamorous than that, directed by Eran Creevy ,(who also made the fantastic Shifty), this film features quite possibly the most beautiful presentation of London as a modern city that I've ever seen on the big screen. But visuals are only part of a film, so how was the rest of it.... Dropping us right into the middle of a complicated heist, we see rugged cop Max (James McAvoy) ignore orders and get shot in the leg by one of the criminals (Mark Strong, bald bad guy from Sherlock Holmes). The film then zoom three years into the future and we're on board a plane, where a young Asian/Arab man reveals he's been shot and runs off the plane (it hadn't taken off yet, or that would have just been silly), whereby he calls his dad to come and help him.... his dad who happens to be the criminal we saw shoot the cop three years ago!!! Madness. This all leads to a broken down and now permanently injured cop Max realising that this is his big chance to get vengeance for what happened three years ago....but is everything as clear as it seems, who is he actually chasing?
